Brian Bennett was born in Palmers Green in 1940 and went to Hazelwood and Winchmore Hill schools, leaving at 16 to play drums in a skiffle band in Ramsgate. He was resident drummer at the 2is Coffee Bar  in Soho, before joining Marty Wilde’s Wildcats, and then going on to replace Tony Meehan as drummer with  Cliff Richard and the Shadows 1961 – he has played with them ever since and wrote many of the songs appearing in Cliff Richard’s  films, including Summer Holiday. A composer and arranger, he has also produced Demis Roussos and Denis Waterman, and written a number of TV themes, including New Tricks, Birds of a Feather and the BBC Golf theme.

I remember Brian very well. We used to walk home from school together at one time. He was a very nice lad and I am so glad he went on to do well for himself.
