North Londoner Woodward’s three much praised novels, August,  I’ll go to bed at noon and A curious earth,  telling the story of generations of  strife torn hard drinking Jones family, are based in Winchmore Hill.  I’ll go to bed at noon was shortlisted for the Booker prize in 2004.
