A new debating group holds its inaugural meeting next month.
Organised by Winchmore Hill’s Sharon Nayyar, Enfield Debaters aims to provide a friendly and sociable environment in which local people can meet up to share their thoughts and ideas. The aim is to provide a forum for challenge, debate and collaboration.
The plan is to hold monthly meetings – topics can be political, social, environmental, fashion, historical, or even comical. There will be guest speakers and the emphasis is on creating a social atmosphere with drinks and food.
The topics for the first debate are
- Are men now the fairer, weaker sex? Discuss
- The Housing Benefit Cap is for the greater good. It will encourage people to return to work and should be welcomed by Enfield. Discuss
Nothing controversial there then!
